These garden-chic DIY Greenery-Wrapped Votives are perfect for backyard and outdoor weddings! We love the earthiness of the hemp cord wraps, complimenting the greenery perfectly.
Quick and simple to make, they are also customizable – choose the greenery or herb that matches your wedding scheme!

Step 1
Gather materials. You’ll need a glass candle votive holder, a pillar candle, hemp or twine cord, your choice of herbs/greenery, scissors and doublesided tape.
Step 2
Cut small clippings of your greenery, measuring against your votive holder to make sure they are the right height. We used about 30 clippings for our small votive holder – depending on the size of yours, you may need to cut more or less.
Step 3
Cut a piece of double-sided tape and place it going around the very base of the votive holder. This will help the greenery stay on the votive holder.
Step 4
Place the greenery sprigs around the votive holder, pressing the bottoms down on the double sided tape to help secure a bit. Continue placing greenery sprigs around the votive holder – it helps to stand up the votive and gently hold the greenery as well, as you place. Having a partner help can also speed up the process!
Step 5
Tie a small piece of hemp tightly around the base of the votive, securing the greenery on the glass. This piece will be removed in a later step.
Step 6
Cut another longer piece of hemp and wrap around the votive a few times, catching the greenery sprigs in the wraps (wrap tightly, but be careful to not make it too tight!).
Step 7
Cut the excess hemp from the knot you just made. Then, cut off the hemp piece you tied in Step 5 – this is no longer needed.
Step 8
Place the candle in the votive holder and light!
